However, if I compare the number of messages today with those from 6,
7, or 8 years ago (my first BBS), there are significant differences.
Besides, Usenet doesn't exist here anymore either?

It would be nice if I could add more diverse and active networks.
Since I don't want to run the BBS just for myself, participating in a network as a point is probably out of the question.
Maybe I misunderstood this network topology, but I thought till today a point is just one (!) endpoint (user) only.
If my BBS as point enables posting to other user here too - this wood be great.
The only difference between a point and a normal node, is that a point
is not listed in the nodelist for the network.
Points, otherwise, can interact the same was as other nodes can.

Thanks for the explanation. Then I have misunderstood this for years
It may have been the policy of the networks you were on rather than a technical limitation.

Are there still options for that today?
This is the most active network.
long. Though, I'm not worried about bothering deon :) deon can set up
nodes easy with clrghouz :D
This is the most active network. You could add fightonet, but you'll
only see automated "moderator" posts with rules no one can enforce, and
3 old men talking about who is more sick then the other.
hahhhah that's micronet. I love to read it everyday and see what new disease sean has this week.
