• Synchronet Question

From The Godfather@1:103/705 to All on Sun May 24 07:31:36 2026
    Hey all,

Setting up Synch here and to the point of configuring the BBS .. For the life of me I can't find the old "Hit [ESC] to continue" bot check / front end mailer that I see on other Synchronet BBSes during "answer." Any quick help in locating it would be appreciated!

Nothing like that is included with Synchronet. By default, Synchronet uses Telnet options and ANSI terminal auto-detection to help determine if the client is a bot or not.

that's is no longer needed... BBSes and mailers operate on different ports using different protocols... there's no need for human users to tell the mailer to pass them over to the BBS... think of it as having multiple phone lines... one group for the BBS only and the others for the mailer only...

that is a 3rd party addon. you can use one of theirs or make your own.
i have a bot check that actually blacklists you before you pass it. when you pass, you are white listed.

Maybe he wants to relive the old time and give his users that dialup
feeling. I don't blame him. It can easily be done with a replacement
