they'd bring us to a local Radio Shack and buy some kids' electronics kits they had (they were kits with a little board that had some little springs on them, along with some LEDs & other components, and they had instructions to wire them up to do something).

I had one of those back in the '70s. It was a RS 150-in-one Electronics Project Kit. I had a ball with that.

Making the burglar alarm with a light sensor and piezo buzzer, so your

My grandmother was an apartment manager when I was growing up, and she'd usually send interesting things she found left in the apartments my way.

Once, she found an interesting Radio Shack component stereo system
(tuner and amplifier) with these tabletop speakers that looked like
    something out of a 70s Sci-Fi movie.

    https://realitycheckbbs.org/images/oldstereo.jpg

Combine with a pair of Koss "Can" headphones and a cheap turntable, and
that's how my love of music started.

A local rock FM station would play albums late at night, commercial free
and without breaks. Old Genesis, Pink Floyd and Rush, I remember
listening to fondly - lights out, headphones on.

I actually have a couple big ones of these still, and possibly a smaller "AM radio kit" one somewhere, too.

Proxy fun. I'm using NGINX Proxy manager, I think I need to have it manage the certs. The proxy has a cert now.

I still have both of my Radio Shack kits. 150 in One and 200 in One. Used the heck out of both in the early 80s.

I remember those. One of my cousins' had a pair. Single, mid-range driver setup. Not much "umph", but good enough for bedroom speakers.
